Our Goals

Our program will implement comprehensive solutions for the protection and enhancement of Nouakchott’s coastline, which revolve around clear objectives:

1. Protect the city’s coastline from the risks of marine submersion and erosion, and more generally against the impacts of global warming;

2. Limit urban sprawl and support the urban development of the city in an environmentally respectful manner and for the benefit of the entire city population, especially the most vulnerable populations;

3. Affirm the city’s connection to the coastal nature while ensuring safety against climate risks;

4. Promote the city’s economic influence and boost employment through the support of existing activities and the development of new productive, commercial, and leisure activities along the coastline.

Our approach is designed to be in harmony with the strategic orientations of the public authorities in terms of socio-economic development, coastal preservation, and urban planning. We will contribute to Mauritania’s efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 13 (combatting climate change), 9 (building resilient infrastructure), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), and 8 (access to decent jobs).
